You have always been one of my sources of support, encouraging me to believe I can do anything I set my mind to even when the road ahead isn't easy.
For the last 13 years I have been a teacher and manager in the early childhood education field- not a stereotypical vocation for a middle-eastern guy but one where I know I have truly grown and learned about my talents and how I can be of service to my community.
After over a decade working with some of the premier early childhood centers I have come to realize that this business model is turning the most fundamental learning stages of a young child and grinding it into a one size fits all approach, that diminishes the ability for kids to be truly ready for what awaits them in Public school. Growing up myself in a bi-lingual family, new to America as a young child, diagnosed with both Dyslexia and ADHD, I remember the shock I felt when I got into the school system and how poorly they were ever able to meet my unique needs or understand my optimal mode of learning.
So what is Little Dreamers Creative Learning Center? It is a community based innovative and interactive early learning experience, where the curriculum and learning focuses on understanding, adapting to and fully harnessing the learning potential of each student that comes through its doors. Not intended to be a large scale business, Little Dreamers is a boutique day care with small class sizes.
Now I have observed over my many years in the field, how hard it is for parents to juggle the demands of full time work and being a hands on parent. I have many times watched private day cares penalize parents for the days they need to get in early and leave late. Since Little Dreamers is meant to be a unique space, where kids grow and learn with the best possible care their parents
can be sure that if they have to work late, I won't close my doors until they
get here- after all wouldn't each of us want the same peace of mind?
Once we open our doors we hope to be much
more than a regular 9-5 business. We strive to help the parents in our
community balance their work and life demands by offering before and after
care, parents nights out, weekend hours for running errands and seasonal
festivities for the whole community to come together. As my wife Sadia and I plan to
start our own family, we envision Little Dreamers being the kind of place we
want our kids, nieces and nephews to grow up in too, so we're throwing our
heart and soul into getting it right!
